Kids' app review : Peppa Pig's Holiday

When we were offered a code to try out the new Peppa Pig app that was released last week, I jumped at the chance - in our experience, they are always fabulous kids' apps packed with great, varied content. Pierre and Juliette still love playing with the Peppa Pig Theme Park app and the Peppa Pig Party Time app that we downloaded months and months ago. We had very high expectations for the new app and I'm pleased to say, it lived up to every one of them !

As the name suggests, this app follows Peppa and the rest of her family on holiday, from airport to swimming pool and beach. It offers the usual format of several simple but great fun mini games and is also the first Peppa Pig app to offer video content from the show - we all love the Sky High music video and it always makes me smile, even if you do have it on the brain for the rest of the day. "Flying high, in the sky, la la la la la la la ... !"

The mini games are :

At the Airport – Peppa and her family are checking in at the airport, can you help load the correct number of bags on the conveyor belt? Make sure you place the right item in each bag as it passes through the X-Ray machine! (Pierre loves this simple matching game because he remembers seeing our bags go through the X-ray machine when we went to Tunisia last year.)

Let’s Go to the Beach – Peppa and George are getting ready for the beach, can you help them pick swimming costumes and beach toys? Don’t forget to apply the sun cream! (This will be my secret weapon this summer when Pierre doesn't want me to smother him in sun cream - I'll tell him we're pretending to be in the Peppa app !)

Ice Cream – Let’s make Peppa and her family some ice cream! Get creative and make your own yummy ice cream too!

Swimming Race – Peppa and her family are ready to race in the swimming pool! Who will win the race? Enjoy this game in both single and multiplayer mode. (Great fun if you want to get a little bit competitive.)

Let’s Make Pizza – The family visit the Village Cafe. Let’s help them make a pizza from scratch! Don’t forget to roll the dough and prepare the toppings before you place it in the oven!

Video content – Click play on the menu screen to watch the Sky High song in full screen mode.

Postcards Sticker Book - Collect virtual stickers throughout game-play and arrange them on a selection of four colourful postcard backgrounds.

The app became an instant best seller on the app store and I have to say, it's well-deserved. It may sound expensive at £2.99 but it's great value for money because you get so many games to play.

star rating : 5/5

  1. We took our 20 month old to Canada last year! We had Peppa pig on DVD but this app would have been a life saver!! And I mean that! Our now 30 month old is a whizz kids with iPhones and iPads. It's amazing how quickly they pick up this technology :)
